Hi, I’m Julie! I am the founder and treating therapist at Seedlings Therapy. I am a licensed, board certified speech-language pathologist currently offering individual and small group therapy to children from infancy through adolescence and their families on the Main Line.
Julie Sampson, MS, CCC-SLP
Education
I received my Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications from Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, NC and went on to obtain my Masters of Science in Speech-Language Pathology from Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN.
License and Certification
I am licensed to practice speech-language pathology in the state of Pennsylvania (and have dual certification in Connecticut) and hold a certificate of clinical competence from the American Speech-Language Hearing Association.
Clinical Experience
Over the past ten years, I have worked as a speech-language pathologist in a variety of settings, ranging from a large, acute care pediatric medical center to private, home-based therapy. I have experience treating patients across the life span from medically-fragile infants in the NICU to adults working to regain independence following a neurologic injury.
I have specialized experience in the evaluation, diagnosis and treatment of pediatric feeding and swallowing disorders and am passionate about helping families tackle these daunting issues. I believe that families should experience mealtime together and that all children should have the ability to access and enjoy a healthy, diverse, and developmentally appropriate diet. A little more about me…
I live in Paoli with my husband and three young children. I enjoy spending my free time playing outside with my family, practicing and teaching yoga, and cooking. As a busy mom myself, I understand the importance of providing intervention that is not only effective but allows for practical and realistic carryover to your child’s home environment. Therapy is most beneficial when it works for the family as a whole!
Testimonials
“Julie is a highly experienced and knowledgeable pediatric feeding therapist. When she first began working with our son, we had no idea how much impact the therapy would have on his progress and on his autism symptoms in general. Our son’s difficulties were relatively moderate compared to other students Julie has worked with – but she made a huge difference in a relatively short amount of time working with him. Julie’s sensitivity to our son’s sensory needs and her patient demeanor overall made her a favorite with Justin during their weekly sessions together. We are very grateful to Julie for her success with our son and her kind manner of explaining everything to us.” – mother of Justin, age 5
“To all my local friends who have a picky eater or feel frustrated or defeated by mealtimes (I know how common this is!), I highly recommend Seedlings Therapy. Julie came over at Chase’s dinnertime tonight to do a feeding evaluation on him, and I honestly feel like she changed our lives in 45 min. Chase ate better & healthier than he has in weeks, and I have so many new tips and tools to use going forward. For the first time ever, I’m excited to give him breakfast in the morning. Thank you so much, Julie! Your work is invaluable.” – mother of Chase, age 20 months
“Julie was an invaluable resource for our family. She began working with our daughter when Early Intervention services switched to virtual at the beginning of the pandemic and we only wish we had started working with her from the very beginning. Our daughter made huge strides in her speech in just the first few weeks working with Julie. She was reliable, responsive, warm and caring. Our daughter ‘graduated’ from speech therapy with Julie but still asks for her and talks about her regularly. We highly recommend Julie as a speech and feeding therapist!” – mother of Hadley, 2 years
“Julie was recommended to us by a friend who raved about her in-home, play based speech therapy services. Our son gravitated to Julie immediately and would watch for her and cheer her arrival at the front door each Tuesday morning. She identified and addressed issues in our son’s communication skills that had been overlooked by previous therapists who had worked with our son for months. She answered my many questions, offered reassurance and guidance, and provided practical strategies to target Teddy’s speech issues both at home and at preschool. We are so grateful for all of her help.” – mother of Teddy, age 4
